Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 — Today is National Eat Your Vegetables Day, and today’s stories unexpectedly became about things humanity imagined long before it actually saw them.
In this episode, we look at the arrival of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor… one of the first successful photographs of a giant squid in the wild… and the images that transformed the planet formerly known as Pluto from a distant dot into a real world.
Plus, the birthday of artist M. C. Escher, whose impossible creations continue to challenge the way we see reality.
Anyway… that’s what I ended up finding while working through June 17.
